Diaries from different parts of the world narrating how quarantine has affected us all
India decided to lock down the entire country in mid of March this year. This meant everything shut down except for essential services or industries that could continue to work from home. I did know about the lockdown in Wuhan, China in February but when it happened to my own country and it directly affected me and my life is when I realized that it’s getting too real.
Quarantining and the ‘new normal’ was scary and tough to start with. It had a sense of urgency and the fear of what’s coming next? It completely changed the way we lived – we were locked up in our homes and self-isolated ourselves while jobs were lost, the number of cases hit an all-time high and the world out there looked straight outta some movie.
That’s when I realized that I need to share my story with the world because if I can feel such an array of emotions – from being angry, lonely, anxious, hopeful, optimistic, others might feel the same as well and it’s important to make them know that it’s okay to feel this way especially when all of us are isolated in our homes.
That despite how it seems like, we are not alone. That despite borders, races, ethnicity, age groups – we all feel the same emotions, we all are humans fighting against one common enemy. That we all have been hit hard and we all are in it together.
That’s how Quarantine Diaries was started – to share quarantine stories from all across the world where people show a glimpse of how the lockdown is like in the country that they live in and how they have been coping with it.
With stories from 13 countries, the stories would give you hope and make you feel a little less alone. It’s like reading a page of someone’s diary and understanding how they feel, reading new perspectives, and ultimately learning how we have been feeling all this while.
So grab a cuppa and get ready to travel the world with us!
With this and a filled heart, this series ends here. I feel so extremely grateful to be able to meet so many beautiful souls out there and read their inspiring stories. I hope these stories help someone feel a little less alone and normalizes the feeling that comes with the lockdown.
It’s okay and justified how you feel and things would eventually turn okay. I promise.
How did you feel after reading these stories? Did you relate to them? Were you inspired? How have you been feeling in quarantine lately? Let me all know below.

I would like to first and foremost thank you for featuring my story.
I could resonate with most of the diaries because unlike how I initially thought I was the only one finding time to make peace with alot of aspects, I realised there’s more of us.
I enjoyed reading the stories of all these people.
Thank you for making this happen 💛

This is very interesting. I guess I didn’t realize people all over are feeling the same levels of uncertainty and anxieties I’m also having about what’s been happening. This is very eye opening and heartwarming. Thanks for this reminder.

I know right? That’s why I strongly believe that storytelling is important – it helps people realise they aren’t alone and gives strength.
This is such a good idea and a great way to unite the world during this time. It’s so interesting to see how different countries have handled the pandemic and people’s opinions on whether these were right, I was especially interested to read the Uk one being from there myself!

I’ve heard of quarantine diaries, a blogger that I know also did quarantine diaries and it was very enjoyable. Yours was also a nice read.

Just read through a couple of these and it’s nice to feel less alone, especially in the frustrations of people not taking lockdown seriously in some areas. I think people struggle without contact and it can make people take risks – so difficult to get that balance right so everyone is safe. Thank you for sharing!

I agree, thank you for reading Yaya xx
Such a lovely idea to gather stories from other people in different countries. I’m sure we all have our own thoughts on how our own countries have handled (or not) this pandemic crisis and it was very interesting to read other perspectives 🙂 Lisa

Yesss, also so many things play a role – how’s the government doing, how’s the citizens doing, culture, populations but what I have realised it – we all feel the same anxiety, loneliness and a feeling of hope and that’s all the same.
I love that you’ve collected all these! It’s lovely to see we’re not alone in the world, and being in such a time where loneliness is ABSOLUTELY prevalent, these type of features are amazing. You’ve done such a good job, and I’m excited to be able to go read them throughout the rest of the day! 🙂

Thank you so much, this makes me so happy <3
The pandemic affected us all in so many different ways. Either we are locked up, or forced to still go to work as an essential worker. It also affected our health in so many ways, not just physical but mental and psychological as well. I love that you’ve shared stories from different parts of the world. Some even have some life-changing events like becoming a first time parent! Thanks for sharing all of these amazing stories!
