Stop waiting for SOMEDAY. Do it TODAY

Capture Sunshine: Stop Waiting for Someday

Someday, I’ll….”

How many times have you started a sentence this way?  Have you pushed things to the back burner only to do it late? Do you know that…

You waste your entire life waiting?

You wait for the weekend to arrive. You wait for summer. You always wait for the next big thing to come, the degree, the job, the partner, the time, the money. You wait because you tell yourself that you don’t have the budget to travel, that you don’t have time because of your job.

So you wait. Wait for the ideal situation to get away.

Waiting for things to get settle down at work.

Waiting to save enough to go out on a tour.

Waiting to be happy.

Waiting for someone to fall in love with you.

Waiting for this…

Waiting for that…

Waiting for someday…

Waiting…

I have always been the “someday” kind of person. I always told myself and to others, “someday I’ll go travel the world”, “someday I’ll get my own blog” (wink) but when I did realise that life is short and time is irreversible is when I finally decided to not wait for things to happen.

The conditions would never be just right. The time would never be just perfect.

“Someday” is a brilliant false sense of hope you give to yourself to procrastinate. Although waiting can teach you a lot about patience and discipline, it can also mean that you’re living in denial. You wait for an ideal situation which is a myth.

Someday won’t come. Someday can’t come because it doesn’t exist. It never had. It’s a warm comforting blanket of illusion that you wrap yourself with to give a million excuses to not do the things today.

If you realize that someday could be any day…

It can be today. It’s the only day that matters, the only day your future depends on.

Life doesn’t wait until you’re ready. You take a chance or you miss. At the end of the day, here would always be risk involved in anything you undertake. You’re not 100% ready for anything in life and you don’t have to be. You grow into whichever path you take.

You waste your entire life waiting, but what are you really waiting for?

The clock is ticking.

This post is great! So motivating, and so true. I am quite often the same, and then later realise that there isn’t going to be a better time after I’ve pushed away from doing it. Will definitely be remembering what you’ve said here!

Inspiring post! I’m trying to push past my someday thinking and make each day count. Some days it is exhausting, but when I count my achievements at the end of the day it’s all worth it!

I often reflect back on my day before I hit the bed and practice time for gratitude. I see what made me act the way I did and try to achieve my goals a little better than the previous day.

My issue is when I do so much for a couple days and the next day I’m exhausted. I guess it should be a rest day, but I feel bad not getting as much done those days.

Do not feel guilty for taking breaks and rest. You have to be proud of yourself for achieving what you did. I guess, we also live in a society that is celebrating overtime works, jobs, hustle to a point that we do feel bad for not working hard enough.

Listen to your body. Do what makes you happy and proud. You do you xx

Great post. I have started to try and live in this way after my husband was seriously ill last year. Life is too short for waiting. We all need to go out there and make it happen

Fantastic post! I’ve done caught myself thinking that I’ll do something I want to do someday rather than going for it right then and there. It’s so important to remember that time is precious, so we should make the best of it!

You are absolutely right. We are just wasting our time to procrastinate things. If we always postpone things, then we never capable to do things at the right time. I always postponed the important works of my life. Thanks Sakshi Raini to open my eyes.

I’ve been thinking a lot about this lately, how everyone is always waiting for the weekend, waiting for Summer, waiting for a holiday. Personally, I don’t believe everything can be done NOW nor that NOW is the always the right time but I do strongly believe in being mindful and trying to focus on the now and only now. Today is all we have so why waste it thinking about next weekend?

In this article, the context of doing it NOW was when we are procrastinating, waiting for the right time to make it happen. I do agree not everything can happen now but we can def take small steps towards it.

This is really motivating! It’s way too easy to think that I will do something at a later time, then I’ll never get around to doing it. Great post x

You are so right. Someday is the perfect self sabotage we do to ourselves.
Well, lately i’ve been adaptin that “Start before I am ready” attitude. Sure, I am not ready to do all the things I should be doing. But you know what? Yet, I started today. Today is as good as any day and all the next moments to come.
Thank you for writing this awesome post!! <3

I NEEDED TO SEE THIS! I’m always waiting…whether it’s a job opportunity or an event to wear a new outfit because I don’t get out as much. You are so powerful and motivating! I feel so inspired and kinda stronger because you reminded life is about taking risks, embracing challenges and enjoying the journey before you reach the destination. Thank you sis!!

Brilliant and motivational. I’m so bad for waiting and putting things off when i should just go for it and do it. You’ve definitely reminded me I need to stop putting things off.

Definitely a good sentiment to keep in mind when it comes to life! At the very least we should try to stop putting off things that are truly important to us 😁

I totally agree with you – not worth waiting for someday because it’s an excuse to push it off. Love how this post is encouraging others to get things done now. Don’t need to wait until the next calendar year! 🙂

I have learnt that if you want something, you need to act on it quick! life is too short to wait and the more your push something, smaller the probability of actually doing it are! such an inspiring post!

Wow, this is such a great blogpost and I love the way you write! This is something I think about SO much, I try as much as I can to not wait for the weekend, or the perfect moment and try to do whatever I can with today! 🙌🏼

This is something that I desperately need to learn. I always put things off, and never just go for it and do the things I want to do! Thank you for writing this post, it is perfect!xx

Loved this post Sakshi. It struck a chord with me. I realised recently how often I’m guilty of putting off things for “another day” thinking I’m not ready or simply “not now”

“Someday” is a brilliant false sense of hope you give to yourself to procrastinate.’ — very well said.

I have finally realized that if you wait for the right time, you keep waiting. Sometimes the right time is the time when you start doing it.

    Very thought provoking article.
