As I turn 25, I feel that I am the person now who I wanted to be when I was younger
Turning 25 is a milestone. It’s when you’re a quarter of a century old. It’s when you’re no longer too young nor too old for the world. It’s when you still have so much time ahead of you to explore but also had some experience and wisdom backing you up.
It’s just like being 18 but so much better.
When I turned 18 – it was magical! I was so excited to be casting my first vote, drive the car, and go for my bachelor’s where I would be living alone in a dorm. I could call myself an official adult!
But now I realize being 25 is similar yet different. It’s when you have the same amount of energy but you’re more equipped to handle the world.
I feel more at peace, I am calmer, smarter, and know what I’m doing. I’m also financially independent. That’s the best part! Although I try juggling between my job, my relationships, my hobbies, and everything in between – I feel I’m that person today who I wanted to be when I was younger or when I was 18 or even in my early 20s.
Turning older just makes you love yourself, isn’t it?
I am comfortable in my skin
I love the person who I am. I am proud of my achievements and grateful for the lessons learned when I made mistakes. I feel now I understand myself better and am clear with my vision. I can go sit alone at a cafe and enjoy my own company without feeling alone. I also can wear what I want, do what I want, feel what I want without seeking validations from anyone else.
I now fully understand that the only validation I need is mine.
I have accepted that everyone has different paths
The Mid-20s is a weird phase. Some of my friends are getting a master’s degree, whereas some of them are now married, some of them have switched multiple jobs and some are now already taking a break.
This used to bother me because I had this idea in my head that I’ll do this when I turn a certain age or do that at a different age but now I have accepted that everyone has different paths and it’s neither fair to compare life milestones by age nor practical.
Everyone is different and it’s okay to go down different paths at any age.
I am grateful
I celebrated my birthday today isolating myself in my home. If you would have told me this last year, I wouldn’t believe you. I never imagined that I would be living through a global pandemic; let alone celebrating my 25th milestone birthday midst it.
This year has been hard, for everyone.
I have been practicing gratitude for many years now because I truly from the bottom of my heart feel gratitude for the things I have and my appreciation for my family, my relationships, our health, my job, my blog has only increased. I deeply value relationships now more than ever.
I am grateful for the life I have and wouldn’t trade it for anything else.

I love how you view growing older as a positive. As soon as I reached 20 I felt like life was going to fast which after reading this seems like a shame. This positive outlook regarding learning new things and feeling comfortable in your own skin is exactly what I need! Thanks for sharing x

Thank you Meera, I’m so glad that I was able to give a different perspective. I too think sometimes of life moving fast but when I think of how now I’m more wiser and older, it gets me excited to see what more life has to offer π

Well, not taking validations from others is the best thing I like about growing up.
